Starting from August 8th, 2014, we are very happy to welcome the ESL One Cologne CS:GO Championship to ESL Fantasy’s roster of leagues. Started as an open-economy Fantasy league for the LCS Summer Split as well as WCS and GSL, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is now the third game to be supported within ESL’s Fantasy league.
This is how it works for ESL One Cologne and CS:GO
Joining in is easy. You can sign up with your existing ESL account or simply sign in with Facebook, Google+ or Twitter – whichever you prefer. Then, all you need to do is name your team, click ‘join league’ and you’re all set and ready to start picking your players.
With all 80 players taking part in ESL One Cologne to choose from, you have to select a team of five with a budget of $5,500 of virtual currency. Players will have individual prices that vary in light of the recent performances of both them and their team. After every day of play at gamescom, the players will get their prices adjusted based on how they fared, they will get unlocked and you will get the chance to set up your team for the next day of the tournament.
NB: Please note that all group stage matches count, so the second-placed teams will have three matches to their account while the first-placed ones only get two.
Alexander Nehr, Product Manager at ESL, said the following:
“I’m very happy to see Counter-Strike: Global Offensive being part of ESL Fantasy now. ESL One Cologne is the perfect chance to test our very own Fantasy league in a new environment. I hope to see a lot of fans competing over the course of the week and enjoying this new way to interact with our tournament.”
